Naowotu

The Naowotu is a genus of underwater-dwelling animals that possesses a small five-cm head and 8 six-cm legs that double as fins. They are pale-white and extremely numerous, inhabiting every ocean on Olivarenith. Using their fins they can travel up to 40 km/h, and are able to maneuver extremely quickly around obstacles and predators.
Like the Ibrovinid and the Canotu, the Naowotu also feeds on the energy and nutrients found inside rocks. Unlike them, however, their mouth is located between their fins, and their anus is on the opposite side of the head.
They often create long tunnels inside underwater bedrock, which not only feed themselves but also create dwellings for themselves, where they lay eggs and care for young. Due to their small size, the Naowotu must feed often, going through about 2.5 kilograms of material each day. In addition, because they often target rocks far below the reach of Ibrovinids, they often stumble across silicon deposits, owing to their pale-white color. This also makes them a target for predators, both on land and underwater, who rely on the Naowotu for their silicon intake.
The Naowotu are extremely social, often traveling in packs of 50-100. At full strength they can bore through 100 meters in only 5 minutes. These packs are well-known throughout various Ibrovinidian cultures, and represent power in numbers. In the famous murals on the base of the Kalzuth Ruins, the Naowotu are frequently depicted, and the modern Illibrivroni and Eldrond symbols for 'numerous', 'multitude', and 'teamwork' feature references to the Naowotu.
