Kalzuth Ruins

The Kalzuth Ruins are a series of ancient ruins located in the Kalzuth Plains. It spans around 200 square kilometers and contains around 41 separate buildings, most of which are completely or at least somewhat destroyed. The site's original builders are unknown; its history supposedly goes back before 25500 AYM, earlier than any known departure from the Elironid tribe.
The material used to build the ruins was a mixture of silica and iron, resulting in a material known as Ulkerat in Illibrivroni. Ulkerat is known to have substantial increases in durability, although the temperatures required to produce such a substance are unachievable without a furnace, which has not been found among the ruins.

History

The Ruins were first discovered in 22812 AYM, when king Vaegolin of Blivon conquered the Plains. At the time, the ruins constituted of 3 separate cities; the present-day city was the southernmost and largest of the 3. The smaller two were deconstructed fully by 22810 AYM, and the resources salvaged were used to construct the cities of Muhthon and Rhicerk in 22810 and 22809 AYM, respectively.
As for the largest one, it was kept out of the sight of the Blivonic kings through a steady stream of bribe money, and it remained secret until 20094 AYM, at which point Mulliyor, the king at the time, allowed its preservation and even compiled all the writings by the early surveyors and explorers of the Plains into a manuscript, which rests at the Ruins to this day.
When Blivon fractured in 17021 AYM, the Kalzuth Ruins became a symbol of resistance against absolute power. When the Kalzuth Plains were placed under Aurhundian rule in 16838 AYM, they revolted, which intensified into a full-scale war in 16830 AYM. All throughout the war, the Ruins defended fiercely, and the rebels used its twisted and gnarled passageways as defense from the Aurhundians. When Naeirouna was granted independence in 16827 AYM, the capital city, Palack, was founded just 15 kilometers north of the Ruins, signifying the symbolic power and hope it gave to the Naeirounians.

Geography

Location

The Kalzuth Ruins are located directly south of the Kalzuth Mountain Range, and the placement of the other two minor ruins were directly north of the Mountains. It is surrounded on all sides by Ialeis grass, the tall maroon grass that covers the rest of the Kalzuth Plains. The area around the Ruins is on a slight incline, directing water towards it.

Layout

The Kalzuth Ruins themselves are a giant circular hole in the ground, around 50 meters deep, and 2-4 meters in diameter. The entrance and exit were two equally deep holes, around 1 meter in diameter. The living spaces were each around 20 square meters by 2 meters and dug out of the walls, with each having a window facing the hole.
