Saret's Sif'Rey

it contains nearly 4000 manuscripts and scrolls within its walls. The Order of the Tehom Nor (Deep Candle) is the controlling group which maintains the library. The public library is available to all in the inner city, though documents cannot leave without permission from the Imyr and The Chronicler.   The current Chronicler is the 1st among equals in the Synod of Enri and makes sure that others obey her rules regarding the taking and copying of scrolls in the library. She sits in a large and open room with large windows in the north western corner of the Sif'Rey. She often sits and just watches what is going on in the city while snacking.    The Arcane has a small scriptorium filled with spell scrolls, spell books, and tomes describing acts of magic in history. This small gnome has a bulbous nose which is reddened much of the time and has spectacles framing his large amber eyes. He has reddish brown hair that he keeps under a black wig of silky hair. he speaks in a high pitched squeaky voice and often levitates in order to look others in the eye.    The Alchemist has a small library of books in the southern section of the Sif'Rey and has books on all the flora and fauna of Mitzraim. She is a lithe looking Sun Elf with black hair and dark skin. She smells of sulfur and jasmine which makes an unpleasant combination for most who smell her coming down the hall. She is serene and confident.    The Gate Keeper is a massive ogre with intelligent eyes that belie his heritage. The Gate Keeper is thick and muscular and tops 9ft tall. He wears a bronze breastplate and has a large club with the words "Exit Here" inscribed upon it in low Pharonic. He has dark brown skin, large sharp teeth, and round sunken eyes. His nose is hooked like a beak. He is shaved and has his hood up most of the time. The Gate Keeper has a love of poetry and will automatically like anyone who provides poetry as their entry fee into the Sif'Rey.    The Scholar is a thin human man with squinting eyes. He knows his eyes are going but whenever he thinks of getting glasses he sees how large the Arcane's eyes are and He decides squinting is better. The Scholar is nearly 70 years old and hunches over a bit when he stands. he walks with an intricately carved walking stick made of what appears to be ivory. He is often in the eastern wing of the Sif'Rey in the Scriptorium which is well lit with glowbulbs, small glass spheres with stones that have continual light spells cast on them.    The Oracle is a Cleric of Saret and wears Vestments over their plate armor. The oracle is a non-verbal, non-binary, longtooth Half-Orc. They do not have a specific gender and appear to be an even mix of both genders with flowing hair and hard tattoos for make up. They have filed down their tusks and their piggish nose is pierced with a large hook. The Oracle speaks in sign and only a few people know it. A young halfling named Ali'Baba often translates for the Oracle so that they are not misunderstood. Ali'Baba is a male halfling, standing at 3 ft tall and has bright blue eyes and dark chocolate colored skin. Some believe Ali'Baba may be the Spymaster but none are sure.

Purpose / Function

The Sif'Rey is set to copy all possible works in the world and sets about collecting them. The Tehom Nor collect the stories and chronicles of the world in this library. Many Subjects have entire walls of scrolls dedicated to them.

Architecture

The Sif'Rey is one of the largest buildings in the city of Enri and contains entire rooms dedicated to subjects. It has flying buttresses to support the weight of so much material and has vaulted ceilings to allow for air to circulate. Gnomish inventions cause fans to turn via large wind turbines on the roof spinning and thus turning belts which turn the fans inside.    There is a large garden in the center courtyard of the Sif'Rey which is perfect for reading in. there is a small pond with large palm trees to prevent too much sunlight from increasing the heat. The courtyard is filled with stone benches to read at and when the rains come, as they do for a city on the coast, there are large umbrellas to protect those sitting outside. scrolls and books are forbidden from leaving the indoors, if there is even a cloud in the sky. the stone walls are painted with fabulous art and murals along every inch. the roof is covered in clay tiles.
