The Iron Alliance
The Iron Alliance was a collaboration between Dalia, Alcesbia, Creia, Norland, Volenland, and Opeid.
History
League of Leaves
The Iron Alliance emerged from the League of Leaves in 5.885, uniting Dalia, Alcesbia, and Creia against the emergent radical politics of Kirh, especially that of the alliance of Kirh's Workers' Party and the Open Republic international anarchist syndicate which was fuelling the Holterne nationalist movement in Southern Dalia. In 5.888, Kirh began the process of transferring to a democratic republic. This emboldened republican and anarchist sentiments across the eastern countries of South Erwa and, after suppressing demands to extend suffrage and the threat of an anarchist uprising, Norland joined the League in 5.890. With the threat of anarchism and republicanism quelled, the League was disbanded in 5.892.Treaty of Marmond
In 5.901, following the death of Bjerian Empress Cynebeorht the Pious, Volenland approached both Kirh and former League members proposing a pact of mutual aid that would eventually become the Iron Alliance. Volenland, which shares a border with longstanding Bjerian ally Kirh and then-Bjerian puppet-state Sroia, had had an uneasy agreement with the late Empress, but since her retirement in 5.890, had actively courted the Ironwrights as a counter-measure to what they believed would be her heir's desire to secure his reign through conflict. Kirh eventually agreed to a nonintervention treaty in the event of conflict between Volenland and Bjeria, and the ex-League of Leaves members agreed to ratify the Treaty of Marmond in 5.903, prohibiting wizards and magen from military service, allowing for the expansion of signatories' militaries into anti-magic warfare instead. Opeid became a defacto member of the Alliance at the beginning of the Mage War through a sequence of preexisting alliances and treaties with Alliance members that obligated it to provide them with military assistance.

Great article. I like how the different treaties come into play with this. Good luck in summer camp.
