Esca Dreolin

Esca Dreolin was an Ifrinn cleric and a member of the Master Quartet, the most powerful Veilran mages leading the magical defense of Nohl during the War of Three Flames. Along with two other members of the Quartet, they sacrificed their life to permanently seal Nohl out of the Hellish planes' reach.

Identifying Characteristics

Esca Dreolin had a violet red skin tone and ridged horns that curved out and upward. Their left horn was partially broken during the infamous 1961 VT Skirmish at Pleasant Ridge. Esca prefered to wear long, flowy tunics and shawls over baggy trousers. Numerous pockets were a must, and they were frequently seen sewing more into their clothing.

Special abilities

As a powerful Truth Cleric, Esca was known to utilize the following abilities during their military service:

• Dispel Falsehood to prevent any under the spell's influence from speaking any words other than the truth
• Antagonize to manipulate an enemy's focus, causing them to attack their own forces
• Cause/Suppress Fear to calm or frighten up to several dozen souls within a certain range
• Second Sight to create an invisible sensor allowing the caster to monitor an area from afar
• Find Foe/Comrade to locate a known individual within a five-mile radius
• Light to cast a beam of radiant light shining like a torch from the palm of their hand
• Reveal to allow the caster to see invisible or magically hidden objects or creatures
• Dreamvisitor to communicate with a sleeping sentient creature through their dreams
• Thought Draft to probe into a living creature's thoughts
• Mind Feast to gain detailed information straight from a deceased combatants memories

Personal history

Esca Dreolin was born to a large family of Ifrinn shepherds in the small village of Mullaroe in the Tirceo region of Clonever. Something of an odd child, Esca exhibited a profound early proficiency for creed magic focusing on the concepts of truth and inquiry.
In 1942, the famous Ifrinn wizard Brannoc Culfa passed through Mullaroe during a continent-wide search for those with magical skill and met six-year-old Esca. Brannoc was struck by the child's talent for discernment and used his divination abilities to look into the child's future, hoping he would find Esca as a pupil at the Free Wizard's College. According to witnesses, when Brannoc placed his palm on Esca's forehead, his eyes istantly filled with tears at what he saw there, and he gave a great cry of dismay. Brannoc would not speak with Esca's family of what he saw, but Esca seemed to know even then that they were destined for a great yet tragic life, for the child hugged the old wizard and comforted him, telling him not to worry.


The Master Quartet was formed in the Autumn of 1955, when the Veilran king beseeched Esca to collaborate on defensive strategies with other members Litoreus, Ianthe Hark Turner and Will Tancred. The four mages initially butted heads but eventually found their groove together and became not only strong allies but fierce friends.
