Erenas Day

For this year's Erenas Day I have a meal idea that will blow away the judges mind. A true work of art if I say so myself. Poor Beliris from next doesn't stand a chance.

Erenas day is a celebration of delicious food. It was named after the popular King Erenas who was well known for his appreciation of food and his many banquets.
The first time this holiday was celebrated was the year after his death. Since King Erenas had done so much for the country, the people of Terios wanted to honour him on his birthday. At first these were small celebrations but over the years it developed into the well loved holiday it is today.

Preparation

Most people in Terios have a day off on Erenas Day which allows them to prepare for the meals in the evening. Although many people already bought their food earlier there are always some people who still need to rush to the stores. For this reason many shopkeepers still leave their stores open during the morning.
For those who are already all set, the morning is a time for meal preparation. Many families also partake in a large lunch, often a cold meal as this leaves more time to prepare for dinner.

Sharing Meals

When the evening starts to fall the real celebrations start. Traffic throughout the city stops and all citizens start to put tables in the streets. After all is finished every street looks like its own large banquet. Neighbours sit together to enjoy an evening of fun and delicous food. It is tradition for each family to make their most delicious meals which is than shared with the other people of the street.

Cooking contests

For some the celebration has become somewhat of a contest. A few streets in Golandon are well known for the huge effort that is put in the meals. In those places judges are appointed that will taste every meal and give a score. At the end the one with the highest score is declared the food king of the street and often receives a quite substantial price.
Erenas Day is therefore often a day on which cooks and bakers try to show off their talent. They try to outdo themselves every year which can sometimes lead to food that can be considered true works of art.
