Mayor of Glarn
The Mayor of Glarn is the elected leader of the large town Glarn. Known for having one of the most troubling and challenging positions in all of Nimenra, the mayor is also an important political figure that is related to The United Kings Council both during war- and peacetime.
Qualifications
To be elected Mayor fo Glarn, one has to be a resident of Glarn and usually have been born in the town. While the second rule has been ignored several times, it has over time become more and more important as over the hundred years of migration and demons settling in town.
There is also the need of having been a representative on the towns council over at least one term.

Requirements
Above all, age matters. Few under the age of 40 have been the mayor over the town. While being not an official requirement, you can't run for election as a Demon or Dwarf. The election of a woman has never happened, but no one stops women from participating, however unlikely it sounds a woman to be elected mayor.
Duties
There are few duties as important to the mayor as the creation of suggestions for change in the town. The council have much say in the matter but usually, as the mayor most of the time is a part of a major party, all the suggestions are accepted. Suggestions on law changes on the other hand are carefully reviewed by all parties and put up on lists in common gathering spots such as taverns to gain what the public feels for the suggestion. This was done after a major scandal where a party and its mayor located a lot of monetary means and resources to themselves of their own benefit, which in turn caused unrest when found out.
They are also obligated to lead the town in a good direction for all residents, or at least the Human and Dwarf ones.

Responsibilities
Many of the responsibilities of the mayor are to keep the town organized and led it politically. While not an official part of any country, it is still under the jurisdiction of the United Kings Council and the The Treasullor of the United Council. While these don't interfere with the internal politics of the township and its people, the mayor acts as the representative for the town, especially during war with Nekuram.
During wartime, the mayor is responsible for organizing a defence of the town if not having an elected Marshal of Law available at the time. They must at all time have an organized militia beyond the town watch.

Benefits
During a term, the mayor is allowed a lot of power over the joint effort in town. This can be programs such as health, stability/law and infrastructure. Also, they have the authority to enact punishment against criminals.
One of the largest benefits is the use of the town funds for whatever use the mayor sees as good. While the treasurer always watches, there have been times where corruption entered the minds of both parties. The council does have insight but as mentioned, this has not stopped some to use the money for their own benefit.
