Creatures with no sense of pain are terrifying indeed, but worse is no obvious weak spots...Gravlocks, flying beasts that live in the mountains around Israk but seldom come down to prey on humans, demons or any larger creature but when they do, their terrifying scream sends many brave men fleeing. Basic Information
Anatomy
While seemingly bulky standing upright on its legs, it is very capable of flight with its two leathery arms that has skin being able to contract and retract at will. It has a flat head with two eyes and mouth, on its sides are several gill-like openings. It's back is lined with muscle that is used in flight for the heavy currents and gliding on the hot air. For a creature of its size, it has quite small legs, only about 0,5 meters compared to the otherwise 3 meters tall creature making it walk in a seemingly awkward way for other animals and sentients.
Genetics and Reproduction
It is not very well known how these creatures reproduce, never have a pregnant Gravlock been seen. The organ that they use for reproduction is similar to birds though a cloaca for both the female and the male.
Ecology and Habitats
High altitudes and barren lands seem like the optimal location for Gravlocks. While capable of living on the ground, many would say that Giant Wolfs would be too much of a fight for a single Gravlock, even one-on-one due to the agility of the wolfs compared to the Gravlock on the ground. While destructive, Gravlocks are only capable of scaring them away due to their sound. It inhabits and hunt in all of Marlun's mountain-chains.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Gravlocks are a preditor that hunts mainly small to medium size animals in the mountain terrains of the Israk mountain-chain. The Faded Gravlock seem to have evolved to eat more fish as it is only seen in northern Nimenra where it dives down in the seas, but it too hunts animals.
Almost always the Gravlocks hunt alone, seen flying around in circles above its prey before striking. The terrifying sound it makes is to frighten the target, making it panic and do unintended decisions. There are cases from miners that have seen pairs, probably couples, that hunt together in a similar manner but attacking several preys.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
As noted, it has two small, black eyes that work like many insects. These seem like they are quite sharp due to the fact that they find their prey with ease from noted as far up as 250-500 meters in the sky. Speculated is that the Faded Gravlocks have some sort of echolocation that is used to hunt fish far up in the north of Nimenra.
Most notably, Gravlocks can use their receptor organs to make a terrifying bass sound like a scream or a loud throat gurgle. This sound can be heard in a radius of 30 meters around it, even father from the sky probably, but no one has measured this.
