Glarn Councilman

A councilman is one of these leaders in the Council of Glarn that adheres to the Mayor of Glarn and they all together rule for the benefit of all the people of Glarn, even if the demons don't have any representation in the council, or ever had a councilman that is a demon...

Glarn has the uniqe system of electing their own people to a position on the Council of Glarn. That way they become a Glarn Councilman that is responsible for aiding the Mayor of Glarn in his rulership over the town. A councilman have different responsibilites depending on what they are given by the mayor or by the treasurer.

Service and purpose

The Council of Glarn operates with fifteen members with the Mayor of Glarn being one of them. All the councilmen are responsible as the leaders of the town during their four-year term but in which the mayor stands as the most responsible one of them. Being a councilman is not a full-time job and allows for the elected to still do their ordinary work but demands that the council meets once a week to discuss the situation of the town. The exception is for the ones that receive special positions, like the mayor himself, the Treasurer of Glarn and Officer of the Guilds which demands much more time and effort to maintain a high standard. Councilmen can also be tasked with various assignments by the mayor or other positions within the council. The councilmen are also considered advisors to the mayor and to be elected is seen as valued and gives the ability to effect the politics of Glarn.

Demons and the council

While not outright banned from being elected, and it has happened that they are elected, many Demons don't try to get into the politics of Glarn. Demons are seen by some in the Human population of Glarn as problematic and still part of Nekuram, which still occationaly invades Glarn. The demons who succed in becoming elected faces harassment from various parties into giving their position to other, human members of factions and guilds they are a part of.
