Session 57 - Stopping in Central

General Summary

The party found themselves in a strange, new world. From the pink sky to the living water, it was clear they weren’t in Nevurdul anymore. Everything from the sunflowers to the party’s own weapons had a face and personality of their own. While trying to figure out how to proceed, the sunflowers shouted that “the lesson” had arrived, before sinking into the ground.
Standing before the party was a Troll, which attacked them on sight. Sasha charged forward to attack, but found her strikes only did damage to her. The party attempted to fight the troll using different strategies; all the while it nearly tore Finn apart. Eventually, Hamilton pulled out the splinter in the troll’s foot, completing the Gnome’s lesson and sending the party back to the clearing. And in the Gnome’s hat was Fang’s mouse, Snappy.
After their reunion, the party gave Fang a ride to Central City. She thanked them for the help and promised that she would repay her debt somehow, in the future. As the party navigated Central’s crowded streets, they decided to stop the carriage at The Riders’ HQ, and see if there were any odd jobs around the city to make some coin. Hamilton wasn’t a big fan of the idea, and chose to stop by VendTech instead. Sasha went with, if only to keep Eleanor from going instead.
Finn and Eleanor went to the Stable, and learned that the Riders were invited to Remington Kingdom’s festival, and were preparing a performance for the occasion. Finn reunited with Gary, one of his fellow recruits, and learned that Maddie Beck had lost a book that was important to her. She refused to go into detail, other than that it had two men on the cover.
Meanwhile, Sasha and Hamilton spoke to Kaspian Turner, employee at VendTech and creator of the Turner. Sasha was appalled to find out that Hamilton and Kaspian were acquainted with one another, and annoyed by the way Kaspian looked down on Nevurdul’s people.
Kaspian invited Sasha and Hamilton up to his office to give them some coupons to help them with resupplying, and as an excuse to show off his inventions. Once up there, he showed off a few of his trinkets, while Finn and Eleanor made it to the lobby to regroup with the rest of the party. Finn and Eleanor spoke to Roger Hart, a VendTech rep who Finn has run into a couple times, and endured a few minutes of conversation with him until Kaspian came downstairs.
When he saw Finn and Eleanor, he raced back up the stairs to tell Sasha and Hamilton. Sasha was looking around Kaspian’s office, to Hamilton’s disapproval, but didn’t come up with anything solid.
The party regrouped in the lobby, where Hamilton spoke to Roger. Finn was baffled that the two knew each other, but their exchange seemed relatively pleasant. After Finn told the others about Maddie Beck’s job, the party went to Central’s marketplace to take a look around.
The party split into pairs when they got to the market. Finn went with Hamilton, Sasha went with Eleanor. Finn went to get his crossbow repaired after it was bitten into, and Hamilton met Boot, another one of Finn’s recruit friends. Boot seemed to take a liking to Hamilton, and revealed that he, too, was looking for Maddie’s book. They decided to let him tag along.
Sasha and Eleanor did some shopping and ran into an elf. He introduced himself as Yancey Weaver, and confessed his feelings for Sasha right then and there. He asked Sasha if she wanted to go on a date with him, and she said she’d “have to think about it”. Yancey also told her he was looking for Maddie Beck’s book, and heard that someone had been stealing from around Central and giving it to the people in the Slums.
Once the party reconvened, and with only a single lead, they traveled to the Slums of Central…
