Yuna

Twin of Dawn

Twin of Dawn

First created of all divine beings, Yuna is the Twin of Dawn, created together with Luna, the Twin of Dusk. In contrast to their twin, Yuna represents light, order, stasis, and good. They are associated with the sun, renewal, life, water, earth, and daybreak. Yuna is adorned in the comforting warmth of radiant sunlight and divine luminosity, often depicted as a gentle spirit of divine light or a radiant saint, always of neutral gender expression. When Yuna appear before mortals, those who stand before the Twin of Dawn may bask in their comforting light. Despite the tendency of the Ten Divines to interact very little in mortal affairs, Yuna remains as one of the more popular deities of the primordial pantheon, inspiring many cults, religions, and holy orders dedicated to their ideals of light, life, and truth.

The Seed of Civilization

As the ultimate patron of order and virtue, Yuna is seen as a progenitor of civilization itself as well as many of the races we tend to think of as "civilized" such as Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and so on. Yuna laid the groundwork for concepts such as cities, law, hierarchy, and order. It pleases the Twin of Dawn to see the mortal races create structures which give rise to life, prosperity, joy, and community. Forces that tear down what others have built and seek to ruin and despoil rather than create are the enemies of Yuna.

Cosmic Stasis

Some misunderstand the concept of stasis, which is a virtue of Yuna. It is not that Yuna idealizes total inaction or lack of change, but rather Yuna prefers nature to take its course. All that lives eventually dies, empires rise and fall, the mortal life experiences times of triumph and tragedy. This is the natural way of things. The forces of Luna, however, represent the extreme variant of this, wreaking chaos and unnatural change by their own hand and will, rather than by nature or the divine process. Philosophers and monks who dedicate their thought to the Twin of Dawn describe stasis as "the way in which the petal drifts along the river, never being late nor early to its destination, but accepting the natural flow of things." To act as their guardian upon the mortal plane, Yuna created Bahamut, who is sometimes said to be their draconic aspect, and thus gave rise to the metallic dragons to watch over the various regions of the continent of Sol.
