Gossamer Dispatch

While the mail system of humanity relies on physical correspondence and traveling postmen, the Arachnitha have devised a system to relay information that takes advantage of their arachnid nature. They have named this unique method of communication the Gossamer Dispatch.

Design and Function

All Arachnitha can spin webbing using the spinnerets located in their abdomen. It is this webbing that forms the basis of the Gossamer Dispatch, as runners are tasked with spinning and drawing a network of webbing from one Arachnithan burrow-home to another.
The final thread is drawn taut and affixed into place in the dispatch chamber where the Gossamer Dispatch receiver lives and works in. The purpose of these incredibly complex networks of webbing and tightly strung threads is to send messages through plucking the thread, producing carefully curated vibrations which the receiver feels and reports to the recipient of the message and replies, if necessary, via skillful plucking of the thread of their own.
As Arachnitha have ten legs, each receiver can receive messages from ten different burrow-homes, often multiple at the same time. This means that a receiver must be an individual of incredible mental acuity and have impeccable memory.

Pros and cons

The obvious upside to the Gossamer Dispatch when compared to the physical correspondence practiced by the other species on Nascindor is the speed at which messages are relayed from one place to another. Vibrations travel through the webbing so fast as to be nearly instantaneously felt by the receivers.
That being said, the Gossamer Dispatch requires their networks of webbing to stay unbroken for their messages to reach their intended locations. Even a single snapped thread or torn section of the network can utterly stop communication between locations. This is why the Dispatch employs the runners, whose job it is to also maintain the networks as well as spin new ones where needed.

Runners

The runners are scouts and wayfinders employed by the Gossamer Dispatch who scour the subterranean world underneath the crust of Nascindor for all the tunnels and passages that might link together the burrow-homes of the Arachnitha, so that communication lines can be spun and drawn between them.
Runners are usually the most nimble individuals from a clutch and they command a similar kind of respect amongst the Arachnitha as the Seekers do amid humanity.
Makes me a tad bit peeved that I can toil and sweat for days to deliver a letter from Seastone Bastion to Onset-1, while the Arachnitha tap a single thread on the other side of Nascindor and it is received seconds later on the opposite side.

Pluck pluck! Cool idea. Without runners, how long does it take for someone to notice a broken thread?

As the vibrations should reach their intended location in a matter of seconds, the lack of an answer in an expedient manner is usually taken to mean that the message did not arrive and that there is a problem in the network. The time-consuming part is the runners having to check the whole length of webbing leading from one burrow-home to the other for damage.
