Bekur

God of Blood, God of War, The Vengeful

Bekur (beck-koor) is one of The Eres, although he did not have any part in the creation of Naneth. When the The Betrayal and conflict with Bane, Bhaal and Myrkul began, Bekur was one of the Eres that joined with Silvanus. During the conflict, Bekur became addicted to the fight, always pushing for more glory and additional combat to feed his lust for battle. Sensing this, the other Eres decided to keep him from the remainder of the war, fearful that this lust would push Bekur to join the original three traitors. Bekur was removed from the front lines of combat.   When Eldath and Silvanus decided to leave Naneth for other planes of existence, Bekur decided to stay on the mortal plane, sensing that the mortal inhabitants would feed his appetite for war. The Age of Fire began and the mortals did not disappoint. The War of Fire started between Tiamat and the mortal inhabitants. This incredibly deadly war pleased Bekur, especially when he joined in the melee in the form of a large human or monster. Bekur chose no sides, content with fighting for either. Eventually the fighting ended, and Bekur withdrew to the edge of the world, awaiting the Age of Renewal to begin feeding his lust for battle once more.   It is said that Bekur's spirit has a hand in every major conflict that befalls Naneth. Always straining tensions between kingdoms, urging on assassinations or rebellions.

Worshipers

Bekur blesses those that show great aggression and bravery in combat, and is a common patron for those that live a life in constant battle. Gladiators, mercenaries, hired killers and even Paladins may share in worship of Bekur. Before battle they often pray, hoping to gain his bloodthirsty favor to propel them to victory.   Certain groups, such as the Goliath tribes of Dagr-aen and The Wilderlands of Astora, worship Bekur as their prime deity. Bekur blesses the strongest of these tribes with an unusual ability to raise their dead, so that they may always continue the fight for Bekur's glory.
