Myrkul

Lord of Bones, The Reaper, Member of The Dead Three

Myrkul (MER-kul) was one of The Eres, and a member of The Dead Three. He was not one of the original creators of Naneth, instead joining Bane and Bhaal in secret, to create hateful creatures and desolate lands away from the eyes of Eldath and Silvanus.   Myrkul was instrumental in the events of The Betrayal, Bane, furious with Eldath for not including him in the creation of Naneth, stole a portion of her favored race; The Eldar. Myrkul, using dark rituals and magic, corrupted the Eldar, turning them into the vile race of Orc. During the subsequent conflict, Myrkul fought beside Bane against the other Eres, though they were eventually defeated and banished to The Underblaze.   Myrkul now resides in The Underblaze, ruling over his own layer of hell. While in this fiery domain he perfects his craft of necrotic rituals, raising hordes of damned souls to his legions. These malevolent Shadows, Ghosts, and Specters serve him eternally, waiting the for the chance to return to Naneth and exact his will.   Some believe the Myrkul is the true identity of The Nameless One, secretly wishing to wash Naneth clean of life and recreate it in his own deathly image.

Worshipers

The Quaan Empire worships The Dead Three, including Myrkul. More importantly, the Quaan Cult seems especially devoted to Myrkul. This is because they relentlessly study his rituals and magic for necromancy and the ability to create monsters. Using Myrkul's power, they hope to be able to raise The Dead Three themselves from The Underblaze.   Worship of Myrkul or any members of The Dead Three is prohibited all across the civilized regions of Naneth. Those that serve him, do so in secret. Myrkul has attracted followers such as Necromancers and Warlocks. Any that attempt to raise the dead with dark magic likely serve Myrkul, as that power comes directly from him.
