Colonization of Aisoa Myth in Nailara | World Anvil

Colonization of Aisoa

Aisoa was not always populated with the humanoids and species it contains now. Many thousands of years ago, humans were entirely absent from the continent. They arrived by sea, through the Dragonsbreath Isles, colonizing the islands and coasts they found.   Over time, they became one of the most common humanoid species on the continent, due in part from the chaos of the far off lands they traveled from, and the bounty of Aisoa.

Native Humanoids

Gnolls once lived in the Great Forest before settling in the deserts of southern Aisoa, along with the Orcs.   The Halflings are believed to be native to the Riverlands and the wetlands that once existed before The Ash.   By a technicality, Elves are a native humanoid species on the continent, but are a relatively recent addition.

Colonizing Humanoids

Humans spread from far off lands, and claimed much of the lands on the continent for their own empires. These original human settlers were from a diverse set of backgrounds themselves, and these cultures have slowly changed into the ethnicities and nations we know today.   Dwarves famously began living in Aisoa after they were driven from the underground. Though the bulk of their people have not spread far from their lands in Strossenberg, there are many dwarves that seek to relive the glory of their history. Dwarven adventurers are found across the continent.   It is unknown when Kobolds settled on Aisoa, but they were present before humans arrived, but ancient kobold artifacts are largely missing. Their history can be measured as far as 4000 BCE, one thousand years before humans arrived.   Orcs arrived in Aisoa after humans, in small numbers.
