Uotans

The Uotans, natives of the ancient Pele nation of Uota, are traditionalists who generally just want to observe their monotheistic religion in peace. However, they really know how to dig their heels in when tested.

Given that they are defending against the warring Inzalu as well as a reform movement within their own lands, this stubbornness may be their undoing.

Culture

Uotans are renowned for their distinctive traditional pottery-making. While the rest of Pele is moving into mass production, Uotan craftspeople still build pots by hand... even eschewing the use of a spinning wheel. This means that a single pot can take hours of intensive labor to knead, build, polish, bake, and paint... but the craftspeople find this method more satisfying than more modernized methods.

One special kind of red slip used on the rims of the pots makes the surface porous to help keep the contents cool on the savannahs... this special paint is lost in more modern methods, so Uotan pots are useful as well as a curiosity in more industrialized nations of Pele.
