Pele

Pele is the western of the two great continents of Muum. It is a large continent known for vast deserts and savannahs, jungles and forests, and dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs?

Yes. Dinosaurs.

The people of Pele have long lived alongside pockets of the creatures, adapting around them. Certain kinds are domesticated for the purposes of labor, transport, and food and textiles.

The large carnivores (the equivalents of Tyrannosaurs, etc.) are, at first glance, the most threatening. They are enormous, fast, and deadly. There is an entire tribe that has culturally dedicated itself to hunting and fighting these kinds of monsters, and most towns or cities on or near their hunting grounds will have appropriate defenses... whether those be gigantic meters-thick walls of Uota or canons/harpoon guns or mechas of the Inzalu specifically built to defend against them. Even with steam-age mech technology, they are still terrifying to face.

However, there are threats that are smaller but no less deadly. Raptors and wild dogs, both, will swarm an unsuspecting traveler with little warning and pick their bones dry. Worse, you have threats from the air in the great winged lizards that can swoop in over a city's defenses and fly off with children and pets... and, for the largest ones, cattle.
