Notable Locations

  • Marhaddag - capital of the Dangean Kingdom and home to Grand Commission of Dangean Kingdom.
  • Tisolais - "Town that never sees daylight" or Tisolais. Surrounded by giant Skyshield trees, citizens of this town almost always live in forest shade, not seeing sun unless they find the clearing in the forest. Due to this, on every house, on every street there are dozens of lanterns, spreading many tiny rainbow lights all around. Inventors of this town over the years managed to mechanize most of the light sources, as well as create the first in the Kingdom mechanized clock, that proudly sits in the middle of town square.
  • Quiet Reach - even common folk of Dangean prefers not to talk about this Fortress, as if a person is relocated there - there's literally no hope they'll see the light of the day again. Quiet Reach is a prison complex, located on the separate island in the northern part of the Kingdom. What started as a correctional centre for mages in the roots of the Kingdom, later in the years, changed into a full-fledged prison for any arcane wielder or the most dangerous criminals that roamed the lands. No one really knows what's going behind its tall grey walls, but many horrifying rumours and stories hang like a poisonous cloud over the place.
  • Siafaf - a relatively big town, that is located in the area of many geysers. Some of them are acidic, some - not. Nevertheless, this created a perfect conditions for brewing different sorts of alcohol, as well as alchemy - the main craft, that makes Siafaf so valuable. Some villagers believe, that the natural phenomena of this area is the gift of the Light, others - that under the village sleeps an ancient black dragon, but well - those are only rumours.
  • Garradlagha - large town, that is located over large interconnected caverns and serve as the second underground level. This is the heart of all criminal activity in Dangean Kingdom, serving as a refuge to all unsatisfied with the politics and social injustice in the kingdom. While farmers, merchants and common citizens live on the upper level in stone-made homes, criminals, homeless and all people who wronged the law live in the small spaces of the caverns, having build a whole other city in the shadow of Garradlagha.
  • Priosar - one of the three towns with an Arcane Tower, though Priosar is the farthest up North of the Kingdom. Located at the bottom of the Grallagha mountains, it has an exceptionally cold climate, with little to help with farming activity. Instead, Priosar focuses on fishing, cattle breeding and grazing on the relatively green hills. Such secluded location helps with keeping mages in check, and numerous farmers prefer harsh yet quiet conditions of living in Priosar and its countryside. Due to problems with monsters and beast from the Grallagha mountains, Priosar has a large number of guards stationed in the city, as well as a constant demand for mercenaries.
  • Tihav - small halfling fishing town in the middle of a Tihovod lake. Villagers use their skills to fish unusually large, yet tasty fish in the surrounding waters and some mastered the craft of weaving, creating incredibly resistant to tearing and fire damage fabrics, made out of webs of giant wood spiders living in the area.
  • Society

Dangean society is built on the principle of "extending a helping hand to thy neighbour, in times of sorrow and need". The idea of community is hammered into the heads of citizens starting from their childhoods, partially due to the times of the White Crusade, when the crusaders only thanks to their unity against common enemy managed to tame wild lands of Southern Artan. Every single citizen weekly attends local church and its unheard of to live in Dangean and not be a dedicated worshipped of the Light.
Citizens have a high sense of responsibility for the safety of their communities and country, and as such they are willing to do everything in their powers to protect their peace. Considering that Dangean has an incredibly harsh laws regarding any use of arcane magic, it's no surprise that quite often Dangeans can snitch on their fellow neighbours, if they suspect any sort of witchcraft or, which is more common, if one of the young children happen to manifest magical abilities.
Though, if you're not a mage, this country can seem like a very lovely and unified place.

  • Guilds and Factions

Stjornflar - a group, or rather a wandering caravan, of elves, that follow the Way of Stars - a series of relatively new Star Prince's teachings, which claim that only through wandering and searching all over the world can elves find their native land, Undirstjarna, that they abandoned after the Lunar Discord. The caravan never stays for long in one place, always searching for hints of location of their destination, be it by getting access to libraries, or searching old ruins. The caravan was made out of group of refugees, that escaped Alfagras Woods, when the lands were put under terrible influence of chaotic energies and magic by magisters of Magior Empire, around the beginning of 6th century. Stjornflar broke any contact with their remaining brethren in Heimalsjournualf, that decided to stay back, abiding by old traditions, and try to live in the cursed lands, hoping to find a way to cleanse it, even if the task proves to be rather hopeless; Stjornflar stays away from the high elves of Rosidor Empire as well, as either group doesn't keep any warm feelings towards each other, ever since the times of Magior Empire. Even though the elder members of the caravan are set on finding "the promised land", many of the younger elves, or those who joined the caravan later, over the centuries got used to the wandering lifestyle and now do it as a way of honouring Zorren and his teachings, as well as finding joy in constant travelling over the ever-changing lands of Saarma and Artan continents. Over the years, the caravan lost many of their members, be it because of illnesses, conflicts with other races or dangers of roads. The fact that the elven race started suffering from unexplainable affliction or mutation around 7th century, that drastically lowered the birthrate of pure-blooded elves, made any losses in the caravan that more painful - but it also made a rare birth of pure-blooded elven child a cause for celebration.
The Ninth Circle - an ancient group of devil worshippers, whose history dates back to the War of the Burning Skies. They are rumoured to be responsible for the near desecration of the Lightbringer's church, as well as disastrous events that led to the formation of Burning Canyon. Throughout centuries, they try to bring Hell's second invasion closer, manipulating the world politics, social dynamics and conflicts
Chainbreakers - a terrorist organization that is rumoured to originated from Wolf Valley and consists of Semargl worshippers. Their main goal is to completely get rid of ruling class and influence of noble families over world politics, as well as oppression of other social groups. Though noble in some ways and causes, they don't shy away from terrorist attacks, creating of lethal social unrest and manipulation of social views of any current events, in order to create chaos in the Empire and Dangean Kingdom.
