Silverlight Item in Mirateia | World Anvil

Silverlight

The ancient sword known by the name of Silverlight carries the burden and honour of being seen as the symbol of imperial power within and outside of the Empire of Dercia. The legends surrounding the sword tell about how the sword came to be, they tell about a time back in antiquity when a young blacksmith with exceptional skills is said to have imbued a fragment of moonlight within the sword, granting the sword a radiant sheen that glimmers like silver under the sun. other legends go that the same blacksmith was in fact the goddess Mara who had disguised herself as a blacksmith and forged a weapon worthy of a god and left it for the The Astalles dynasty to find.   Silverlight is only wielded by the emperors or empresses of the Derican Empire, it symbolizes their authority and embodies the virtues and responsibilities of ruling the empire, It has never truly been confirmed but legends tell about the sword having magical properties, attributing it to the ability to reflect the true nature of a character and the intentions of the person holding it.    During Dercian Imperial coronation The sword is presented to each new ruler signifying the sacred bond between the monarch and the empire. It varies during each coronation to who the person who hands the new ruler Silverlight, during the coronation of Emperor Malthin II it were empress Amelessa Ruxmer who handed Silverlight to Malthin   Throughout the annals of Dercian history, the sword has been present in pivotal moments, symbolizing the continuity of leadership and serving as a beacon of hope for the realm in times of turmoil. Its existence is revered and cherished by the citizens, evoking a sense of pride and assurance in the unity and prosperity of the empire under the guidance of a worthy sovereign.

I am curious as to whether any of the myths behind the sword are true, and whether it truly does have magical properties. Even if it doesn't, it seems to hold quite the power in the minds of the people.
