The Free City of Zobeck

The Free City of Zobeck is one of the only cities in Midgard that is not ruled by a King or other type of feudal lord.

80 years ago during the Great Revolt, the citizens of Zobeck cast off the reigns of rulership by the noble House Stross, casting them down from their centuries of rule.

Demographics

11,040 Humans, 2,200 kobolds, 420 dwarves, 200 gearforged, 140 Other

Government

The city of Zobeck is ruled by the Lord Mayor. The Lord Mayor holds their position for a 10 year term, and is elected by (and from among) the 12 sitting Consuls.   The Consuls are descendants of leaders of the Great Uprising. They can also be chosen from prominent members of society such as prominent merchants, priests of high rank, etc.

Defences

Zobeck is defended by the Free Army, Zobeck Hussars, and Griphon Knights.   The three armies amount to slightly over 1,000 troops, though about half are civilian conscripts assigned to guard the city walls.
