Failsafe is the net name used by an anonymous anti-corporate hacktivist active primarily on the Gate Town Autonomous Network.

Personal history

Very little is known about Failsafe due to the anonymous nature of their postings. Based on the languages of their posts, it is commonly assumed that they are human, possibly Yytsuuri, with an age of between 25-35 years estimated based on claimed personal history and linguistic analysis.
Failsafe claims to be a former Exploration and Defense Fleet officer who was assigned to one of the megastructure deep space stations before leaving. This claim is somewhat disputed due to some statements made by them which contradict EDF records.
According to Failsafe themselves, the pseudonym signifies being "the failsafe for the institutions which have failed to prevent corporate overreach and exploitation".
There is some controversy among analysts as to whether Failsafe is a single person or a group, though the general consensus tends towards them being a single person.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Failsafe has taken credit for various corporate hacks, primarily targeting Offworld Hydrocarbons. While mostly targeting exfiltration of corporate research data with the stated goal of "making it harder for the corporations to profit off the secrets they stole by stealing them back and freeing them", some of these hacks also targeted various phsical control systems leading to minor accidents at various manufacturing facilities operated by large corporations including Offworld and Kawamoto-Altberg.
Some sources estimate that Failsafe is responsible for the publication of roughly 20% of Megastructure research and charting data currently publically available, and 60% of exfiltrated and forcibly published data.

Morality & Philosophy

Failsafe has repeatedly stated that they consider freedom of knowledge to be a prerequisite for a free society, and the secrecy of large corporations and research institutes such as the Nyberg Institute, particularly regarding the Megastructure and Titan technology, to be antithetical to this.
