G'Pir Puree Language in Masters of Illuria | World Anvil

G'Pir Puree (Ga-Pier Poura)

It’s a deep, rolling language with a lot of roots to old cultures.
— Skyfarer Tolthion Reanast Korenold

G’Pir Puree is an ancient language, and the ‘common’ one spoken primarily by the Highlanders of the Ice Reach mountains and bordering settlements in the Great Northern Swamp, Shattered Lands, and the Minanduan Wastes. The language is ancient, tracing its source back to such dialects as Old Elvaess of Elfhame, Old Sta’krug of the ancient dwarven clans of the East, and Middle Bishkeg of the Garome region. Because of its age, the language has made its influence across many other cultures from the neighboring Eltaa and farther, such as the Centauri.

History

Old G’Pir

The earliest known form of G’Pir Puree is called Old G’Pir or Icelandia-Firth from the 1st Age. This developed as the migration of ancient human, dwarven, and elven cultures settled in the Ice Mountains regions following the push East across the wasteland from the Lauredor and Wizard’s Isle west coast. As the settlements were established, this brought together the initial languages of Old Vorthaim, Old Sta’Krug, and Old Elvaess.

Middle G’Pir Puree

In the 2nd Age, during the dominance of the Shadow Hand emperor and his Pax Imperium, dialects of G’Pir Puree could be found throughout the Ice Reach and well into the Shattered Lands and Great Swamp. As part of the Pax Imperium’s bid of conquest to unite the lands, it enforced learning and use of their ‘common trade’ called ‘Imperia’ in the people it conquered, such as the Highlanders of Ice Reach.

This mandate to use Imperia was slow to be accepted. But Imperia eventually worked its way into the various dialects of G’Pir Puree. This remained even after the Pax Imperia fell at the end of the 2nd Age. By the start of the 3rd Age, G’Pir Puree dialects had merged to a great extent because of the influences of Imperia.

Modern G’Pir Puree

The language today is the current evolution of the Highland kindred dialect. It has deep, almost musical sound, extending vowels such as ‘o’, ‘ye’, and ‘u’ but using a sharp drop off for consonant combinations such as ‘Ta’, and ‘Te’.

:D Why thank you! I'm more than happy to share. What part?

I'm afraid it is only wishful thinking on my part. I can just manage to make a D&D battle with maps on Discord after figuring out bits of python/dragon. I'm still learning my way around World Anvil and there are features that may simply not be available to me that would, I think improve the appearance of pages in my worlds. All of your work looks professional because you are both creative and have the computer skills to do that. Thanks for the offer, that was kind.

Well, thank you for the very kind complement. :D If you change your mind, feel free to drop a message in my guestbook or come by the Guild Hall on Discord. I'm always willing to help.
