Hegenburg

Hegenburg, on the river Klee, was a city of roughly 2500 people, roughly 13 miles south-southeast of Wunschau. It was largely emptied of population during the first wave of the Plague, but it was discovered that perhaps around 100 people remain. Some are holed up in the dormitory of the St. Margaret abbey in the cathedral compound, on the main square. Others wander the streets as wererats. Otherwise, the city looks relatively abandoned, with old refuse laying in the streets. Many of the doors are ajar, and many of the windows are smashed.   The political status of the city is uncertain, though it is known that both Margrave Konrad of Rabenwald and Landgraf Detlev of Greifswald claim it as part of their patrimony. Of the old leadership, only Reimar, who used to be head of the town council, remain. De facto, the city is controlled by the sorceress Matilda.   Little is known about the town's economy, aside from the fact that the survivors subsist on remaining stores, and whatever they can barter or buy from other survivors in the region.   There may be records contained in the town Rathaus, but two ratwomen were encountered while the party was searching the premises, and had to be driven off.
