Vestra Inn

The Vestra Inn is the only true site of public accomodation in the isolated mountain town of Vestra.

Architecture

Situated around three-quarters down the town's only road, on the opposite end of town from the local airship landing pad, the Vestra Inn is unusual in a number of respects. The two-story central structure has very thick stone walls beneath the A-frame roof, with some support buttresses being as much as five feet square, lending the structure the appearance of fortification. The back half of the first floor features the rooms for guests, while the front contains the lobby and a small kitchen (a stay may include meals for a small additional fee). The upper floor contains more guests rooms and laundry facilities.   The left front corner of the structure features a three story cylindrical tower structure, the roof of which is a hemisphere adorned with numerous skylight-windows on the slopes instead of the town's usual pointed rooftop. This tower actually features an 'observatory suite' where the owners, a married couple who are fervent Eyes of the Void, can look or poke telescopes out through skylights to observe the night sky without being exposed to winter chills. The first story of the tower contains a small dining area for guest meals, while the second story contains a small library and sitting area for the guests. The outer perimeter of the tower contains the front stairwell from which all three stories can be accessed.   Unbeknownst to most visitors, the basement of the Vestra Inn is two stories deep. The upper basement is a wine cellar and storage space which does not extend beneath the tower. Even visitors who come down here for whatever reason will find no obvious means to enter the lower basement: a rampway concealed beneath the tower, accessible by sliding aside a shelving unit which runs concentric to the tower's outer perimeter. The lower basement is a number of small rooms used as a surgical ward, recovery rooms, and safe rooms for Sorority of Solace VIPs and others whom the sisterhood deems at risk of capture. The Sorority brings these individuals into the inn via covered truck, with the patient or VIP concealed within faux wine barrels or other crated goods. The existence of this hidden space, coupled with the town's constantly changing sovereignty due to the ongoing War of Reunification makes the Vestra Inn a site of constant low-intensity intrigue.
