Lothar Von HughGraven

Lothar Von HughGraven is the deceased former Baron of Ilserock, foster father of Manfred Von HughGraven, and brother of deceased Duke Herkemer Von HughGraven.
While he was still Baron, Lothar was a powerful wizard and necromancer who forged a dark pact with an evil being known as Nagehyren to become a vampire.  In order to fulfill his side of the bargain, Lothar stole a VonHughGraven family heirloom known as the Star of Trinsk.
These acts ultimately enraged his older brother Herkemer, who led a force against his brother at the Battle of Ilserock. The ensuing combat left both Duke and Baron Lothar deceased (the latter at the hands of a Priest of Slagemon) and their sons, Tarquin Von HughGraven and Manefred Von HughGraven(character) as the heirs to their respective titles.
While still living, Lothar was a charming man who wasn't afraid to bend the rules to his advantage. As a young man, this quality led to his being expelled from The Arcane Academy of Standopolis for participating in illicit necromantic experiments.  This scandal also saw the expulsion of his friends, Gryffud Valaragga, and Werik Lezirin.
Lothar's charms also led to a number of liaisons with prominent nobles of Volinsk, including Duchess Duska Martinova, a figure who has become a prominent ally of Manfred; and Katerine Von HughGraven, the wife of his brother Herkemer.
Despite his charms Lothar was feared by the townsfolk of nearby Vicksburg who often fell prey to his vampiric appetites.
