Chai
Chai is a lush country with a great deal to offer its people, most of whome live in abject poverty, and have n o appreciation for the riches that surround them. The Khea-Khans and their families keep disagiu (underfolk or commoners) completely subserviant, further deviding their culture into castes of social rank.

Culture
Chai lives in a highly structured society of socioeconomic castes. The highest of these are the Khea-Khans, with the lowest being known as the disagiu. It is impossible for someone to rise above their castes, but good and loyal performance of one's duties should resulte in ascension to a higher level in the next life.
History
Chai evolved as a country, under common duress from their neighboring countries, particularly Bhanar. In response, they invested heavily in martial skills, horsemanship, and metallurgy. They have maintained their sovereignty and thrown off multiple invasions and raiders from both within and without their borders.
Military
The military of Chai are known as amazing mounted warriors. The smithies of Chai are also known to create quality weapons so the cavalry of Chai are second to none.
Foreign Relations
Chai is a member of the Freelands Alliance, a mutual defense pact aligned against the Darklandss.
Trade & Transport
Chai is a rich land and a great stop for any trade caravan or traveller. Fine silks, excellent quality weapons and some of the most exotic goods in Magnamund can be found here, making a trip to Chai one of the goals for any Southern merchant capable of making such a journey.
