Maaken

Maaken is a shattered city, now forgotten and partially buried. It borders on the Maakengorge. Within the remains of the city lies the Temple of Maaken.

History

The Acolytes of Vashna also operate in the region, frequenting the destroyed town of Maaken, close to where Archlord Vashna fell. In MS 5054, they entered Ruanon Town and kidnapped Madelon Vanalund, daughter of Baron Oren Vanalund and a distant descendant of King Ulnar I. They planned to sacrifice her at the full moon with the Dagger of Vashna, a ritual that would reawaken Archlord Vashna from the Maakengorge. This plot was foiled by Lone Wolf, who took possession of the Dagger for safekeeping.

Points of interest

There is an underground forbidden temple in the ruins of the Sommlending city of Maaken which is on the abyss of the Maakengorge. It is said that when a full moon shines over the temple of Maaken, if a royal maiden is sacrificed on the altar, Vashna and his army will rise in undeath from the Maakengorge.
