William Harrow

Hon. William Montague Harrow

William Montague Harrow is the second Supreme Chancellor of the Second Lordanian Republic, and its current leader. He took over the position in 2301 after the death of previous Supreme Chancellor Diana Ndiaye. Unlike his predecessor, Harrow had not been part of the upper leadership of the former People's Republic of Lordania, but rather a Waterpudlian administrator who's distinguished service in the final days of the PRL earned him a place in the Chancellery.
The first two years of his rule oversaw further expansion of pro-Sol agencies within Lordanian space.

Morality & Philosophy

Harrow has described himself a One-Lordanian Conservative.  Like many of this movement, he believes in small government, and while his Chancellorship has seen the development of some social infrastructure, he has publicly disvowed an interstellar welfare state, in favour of cheap and robust private sector and an extremely basic social support net to cover other needs.  
He has publicly identified as a liberal conservative, recognising the issues faced by the working class, and has done much to pull the image of the conservative away from its far right history.  He has argued that, historically, it has been the duty of those more fortunate in society to provide and support those less so, not the state itself.  He has criticised self-serving capitalism and corporate growth, as well as politicians that do not act in the interests of the people they represent. 
As a One-Lordanian Conservative, he emphasises that although the Cluster is comprised of a myriad of cultures and classes and politics, that there is a unifying feature of being Lordanians within them all. The social identity is a core concept of his political doctrine, and Harrow has made it clear his intent on ensuring national unity in the face of the Confederate Systems of Lordania, who are in many ways the antithesis of One-Lordanian Conservatism.
