Kikwit Arsenal

The Kikwit Arsenal was a military installation in Kikwit, operated by the People's Republic of Lordania. It played an important role in the Lordanian Revolution, and in the history of Nouveaulyon. It was stormed by the Nouveaulyon Marquis on 14 July 2276, the date specifically being chosen as to its historical significance. This had the intended effect, as it kickstarted revolution across the planet, and eventually across the entire Lordanian Cluster.
The Arsenal was destroyed in later fighting, but was eventually rebuilt by the United Nouveaulyon Socialist Republics as a living museum to the Revolution.

History

Originally built as a weapons, ammunition, and vehicle depot, the Arsenal was used by the People's Republic to enforce a tight grip on the city of Kikwit. As a symbol of the oppression, it served its purpose well, until it was stormed and taken over by the Nouveaulyon Marquis.  Efforts by the Unitarians to retake the arsenal were originally met with failure, until heavy bombing damage allowed them to briefly retake control, until they were forced out for good in late 2278.
The Arsenal was almost completely destroyed, but efforts by the local and national government to rebuild the arsenal allowed it to be rebuilt as a living museum, dedicated to the lives of the brave marquis that stormed it.  It remains an extremely popular tourist attraction.
