KYIEA PEYRARBI - Imperial Pantheon
Mythology & Lore
The KYIEA PEYRARBI believe that all things came from MINTUI, the pool from which all life emerged from. From this pool crawled three beings, their true names are unknown but due to their actions they are known as GRAMAOD, GYLAOD and TAEOMYNKO.
There are several types of divine beings acknowledged by the priests of the KYIEA PEYRARBI. They include:
- KYIEMINT - The primordial beings. These are the oldest of the divines, they exist outside of order and chaos. They are rarely worshiped but are instead a part of the creation myth.
- KYIEOD - The Gods, official members of the pantheon. Each KYIEOD has a Cult attached to them.
- LAA KYIER - Creatures of chaos. These are not officially worshiped, thus having no priesthood, but a shrine may be found hidden around a city.
- KYIEGMOE - Spirits created by the KYIEOD. There is some debate about the nature of these beings, some ESSOEGOOD believe they are not truly separate from the KYIEOD who created them but more akin to the KYIEOD's shadow when viewed in different lights.
Divine Origins
The KYIEA PEYRARBI was officially created by the PEYRAIM(Emperor) early in the empire's existence. It was designed to streamline the religious practices of the slave castes and create a unified cultural identity. The descendants of these slaves make up the GLOE FRYIEORYM HENS PIRSA.
The names of the deities are believed to originate from the PEYRAIM themselves who gave up their names when they took office.
Tenets of Faith
- The KYIEMINT created the world that sustains us, one must be grateful to them if not necessarily worshipful.
- The KYIEOD and their KYIEGMOE are entitled to the earliest fruits of their worshipers labour, do not begrudge them their portion.
- Regular sacrifices strengthen the KYIEOD. Shedding unnecessary earthly possessions can bring us closer to them.
- The priesthood are servants of order and balance. They are favoured by the KYIEOD for their work.
- One must respect that which has been decreed sacred, no matter how inconvenient.
- Only a fool dares to defile a temple or shrine. The KYIEOD posses a long memory, and an offense is never ignored.
- Do as you must in the service of the KYIEOD. But always remember that the KYIEOD will judge you for acts of pride, greed, envy or cowardice.
Ethics
Instead of viewing ethics as good versus evil, it is perceived as order versus chaos. Or more specifically following the path from chaos to order, taming the wild and civilising the savage. This has led to the perception that the newer gods are to be worshiped while the older gods are only appeased.
Priesthood
The GAME STAARIM are the acolytes of the temples, they are typically young from ten years old, who works at the temple in exchange for education in particular fields that vary from deity to deity.
The ESSOEGOEE are the administrative backbone of the priesthood. Socially they are considered to be of equal status to the NOA, their work is very similar but the ESSOEGOEE are expected to do this work for the benefit of their chosen deity.
Each temple is controlled by a FLOKEIE. They are the ones who lead services, make ritual sacrifices, and speak at sacred events. They are responsible for the everyday running of the temple and surrounding area.
Each Imperial capital has one ESSOEGOOD per deity. Their job is to counsel the rulers, making the position inherently political.
Political Influence & Intrigue
The ESSOEGOOD by their very nature possesses political influence with each one working to improve their place in the eyes of the STINKA HENS WYRS. This can either be to improve their personal standing or to improve the influence of their deity.
