FREEPIRSAIM PEYRARBI - Imperial Charioteers
The FREEPIRSAIM PEYRARBI are the descendants of the elite Chariot force in PEYRA IKSER. Over time the chariots broke down and the resources needed to repair and make new ones became scarce resulting in calvary tactics gaining prominence. It eventually got to the point where the original word for chariot has become a term for cavalry.
They trade leather, milk and cheese, ivory, meat, slaves, and copper for salt, tin, gold, linen, jewelry. They call their money AWTOY. The money is made in KLYISTARIM. This currency is mostly used for religious symbolism, every year they would collect hundreds of these coins to store in STI YNT PLIULAORYM, this is their way of showing that the PEYRAIM(Emperor) is their true leader, their superiority comes from SYI decree.
STI YNT PLIYLAORYM
The Three Sacred Towers are the remains of the guard posts that marked the edge of the heartland of the Empire. The FREEPIRSAIM PEYRARBI believes that the PEURAIM never truly died but ascended to Godhood. When the FREEPIRSAIM PEYRARBI are finally under the command of a LAFEOOD. SYI would return and call the people to arms and SYORUM would rule the world. Many believe that the PEYRAIM would choose this LAFEOOD and to show this SYIS would light the Sacred Towers. This lead to the only permanent settlement of the FREEPIRSAIM PEYRARBI to watch the guard towers and educate the holy ones. This is called KLYISTARIM or watchers.Culture
Shared customary codes and values
Carts, while rare, are only used to carry goods: infrastructure, furnishings, or slaves. A KORRYNTA(citizen) would see being put in a cart as a great insult.
This can be problematic for pregnant KORRYNTA as they are expected to ride so long as the herd is moving, but that could hurt both potential mother and child. To get around this they try to regiment pregnancy as much as possible. Couples only try for children a couple of months after their horses have mated so children and foals are born around the same time.
Stillbirths and infant mortality are explained as the god of cavalry choosing them to join his great stampede early, and all will one day join the stampede when the Emperor returns to claim the world as their own.
Common Dress code
Men
Armour is ceremonial and made of horse leather, if the wearer is wealthy is includes bronze or brass scales. Helmets feature a horsehair crest.Women
Women typically wear chiton over one or both shoulders made of wool or linen if they can get it. The garments are held up by bone broaches and leather belts. The garment is typically knee-length - scandalously short by imperial standards. A strip of linen called a MUSO FAESA is used to bind the breasts to keep them secure when riding.Priests
Horses
The manes and tails are either cut short or braided depending on their owner's preference. The most dominant male and female are ridden by the leaders but every member of the herd is trained to be ridden. When ridden a woolen blanket is placed over the horse's back and a saddle with four horns is secured on the horse.Coming of Age Rites
A child is considered an adult when they can ride a horse all day without their thighs bleeding. This is only necessary because the FREEPIRSAIM PEYRARBI see trousers as a sign of weakness.
Ideals
Gender Ideals
Men traditionally own the livestock but Women own the infrastructure e.g. Tents and furnishings, looms, saddles, and carts. Those who would today be called nonbinary or intersex would become the holy class who presides over marriage, birth, and religious rites, they technically own nothing but the souls of their people, but as a rule, people are rather attached to their souls so you will never see a holy person in poverty. They own no homes but are never homeless, they own no food but are never hungry. Men traditionally lead and fight following the traditional saying "BREE HENS SYIO POELNT WYBO, BREE HENS OA POELNT GRALWEA, BREE HENS ESSOEGOEE POELNT WAME(a mans hands make a fist, a woman's hands make a home and those in-between make a mystery)", but if they can't get women to follow them they will likely die of exposure or starvation, so in practicality, a male leader will be surrounded by female advisors.
Courtship Ideals
Courtship is short and unromantic, when a child comes of age they are taken to KLYISTARIM where a matchmaker decides who should be paired together to provide the strongest children. They spend time together, with a chaperone, to test out the partnership and make sure their skills complement each other. If they get on well enough they are married in a small ceremony where the girl's family gifts the couple with goods essential for making a life together and the boy's family gift them some livestock to subsist off of. The fathers then engage in a ceremonial fight to decide who the new family will follow.
When they are old enough they are expected to start having children. Preferably with each other, as while bastards begotten on slaves are considered citizens they often receive fewer resources growing up than those born from a match.
