The Center-Town Exhibition

Summertime art show and celebration.

The street was filled with stalls of all kinds and the air is filled with the sound of chatter, the smell of fish over fire, and the joy of the people in the street.
— Short for an article on the exhibition.

The First Exhibition

The art business had been good in Burim City for a long time when the Time of Exploration rolled around. Suddenly, the wealthy class didn't want to purchase local art and started seeking out maps and relics from the furthest reaches of the skies. Pushed to the breaking point one summer, some artists put on an exhibition that blocked all travel but foot travel on the biggest street in the middle of town. It was half protest, half art show, and all success.   It started out slowly and angrily as most passers by had to walk through the maze of stalls or take the side street detours to get to their destinations. Then people who wouldn't normally seek out art started buying the more affordable pieces because they saw things they liked. When guards showed up to force the artists to leave, some of the elites who had begun browsing told them off - or paid them to take some time off - and the show went on.

Something and More

Now people travel from all across the city - some people from even further - to attend the big exhibition. Artists from around Burim and others from Tamazee, Zinato, and even Grara come to offer everything from paintings to jewelry. Most of the artists are there to make big money selling to the upper class and elite while other local exhibitors are offering food and fun to the other attendees.

The Hatter's Legacy

One of the early exhibitions had a very popular stall run by a couple that made fabulous - and perhaps ridiculous - hats. Because of this, it is tradition to crazy hats - whether they be overly wide, tall, colorful, or intricate - to this summer festival.

Something for Everyone

Though it may have started as a way for artists to get their livelihoods back it is something different now. Now there are activities for people of all ages, food stalls, a big fire in the square, and, of course, art for sale all over the place.
