"We have inherited several words and phrases from the Skyfarers. My favorite being 'Look onto forever and you will find yourself.' This is a statement about looking into the skies around us and finding that feeling of adventure within ourselves. Perhaps now, during this time of explorers and skyships does this resonate more than any other time in history."
A Bygone Language?
The words of the
Skyfarers have long since been forgotten. These are people who traveled the skies long before the
Time of Darkness and settled on
Breharan before that as well. Their language as they spoke it is no more.
Recent scholarly studies coming out of
Jamaira look into the various languages of the different cultures on
Breharan and have found many similarities. For example, each language has multiple words for sky, each one describing a different quality of it. Though not every language has the same quality descriptions. In addition, some of the languages have very similar words though they can possess different meanings. This indicates to the scholars of
Jamaira that most languages on the island are descended from one older root language.

"The languages that show the greatest level of divergence from the rest of the Breharan languages are the ones spoken in the Zinato region. I propose this is because the greatest concentration of tengu is found in that area. Their influence on only those languages indicates that the tengu were here when the Skyfarers arrived and that there were no tengu among them."
