Additional Note: There is exactly one remaining speaker of sahal down from four in the previous census.— Excerpt from the 57th National Census
The Word of Three Rivers
Sahal is the language that was once widely spoken at the base of the interior mountains of what is now the nation of
Bral. It is uniquely tied to the land where it was spoken, to the feel of the winds, and the changing of the seasons.
A Language All But Forgotten
One of the greatest achievements of the
Bral Empire has been the propagation of educational institutions leading to incredible engineers, doctors, and scholars throughout their borders. The creation of a unified cultural identity was the goal of generations past and they succeeded.
A part of this success is the adoption of a common language from mountain to sky. Everyone for generations has been taught to read and to write leading to the highest literacy rate on
Breharan.
Perhaps an unforeseen consequence of this quest for identity - or perhaps as intended - this has slowly eroded the strength of other languages in the nation. Over the course of years, decades, and centuries each successive generation has seen fewer people choose to learn the language of their parents choosing only the one that was more "useful".
Now sahal, once an important language to many is now spoken by only one person. When this person passes, sahal will have been forgotten and the loss of its uniqueness forever lessening the beauty of the skies.

The General
The most famous speaker of sahal is the former
General Rakan from the time of the first
Emperor.
Though he was not known for speaking the language, he hailed from the region it was spoken and was his first language.
