"In Iyorii they tell many stories about what happened to the people of Riiya. Both were from the people of the dog but during one tough winter the people of Riiya packed up and moved into Yaliru's Throat seeking protection and better game. There are many stories about what exactly happened to them but what I can tell you is that they definitely went there and they certainly never returned."— Tasiir of the People of the Horse
A Normal Nomadic Town
The inhabitants of Riiya were of the
People of the Dog and lived lives almost identical to that of their relatives in
Iyorii. They raised and trained dogs, they ate, they sang songs of their history, and they moved as the seasons guided them.
Eaten By The Wind
One common story about the disappearance of Riiya and its inhabitants is that by entering
Yaliru's Throat, they angered the sister and she gobbled them up. It is said they were hesistant to enter because of the spiritual nature of the area but their physical needs outweighed that. They needed food and they needed wood or they wouldn't see the spring.
Not even
windspeakers would enter the
Throat. The wind almost always blows in an infavourable direction and the trees make it difficult to land a
kite.
There are stories about other things that could have happened to them, inspired by other superstitions among the
Orth, where they were tricked by
fae or eaten by other creatures.
