The Prismatic Colleges of the Everflowing Spectrum
The Prismatic Colleges of the Everflowing Spectrum (known as The Prism to it's students) is a Wizard's College dedicated to all of the aspects of magic, and it's uses, and accepts students from the age of 15. To gain a place as a first year, Entrants must at least show an aptitude for magic in some capacity.
With Ten Towers, arranged into a Decagon where the tower sits at each point, the colleges and their residences all lead into the centre, where a single, massive, prismatic crystal sits, referred to as the Beleth Crystal. Constantly changing from one colour to another, it is claimed that the magical power used with the towers feeds the College Towers, and in turn the students raw magical potential feeds back into the Beleth Crystal. It is not known where the Crystal comes from, just that it has been there as long as the College has.
Within the walls of this great college, students are taught in the foundational practices of magic, and as they mature through the college, they choose their vocation based on the tower they show best aptitude for. It's not unheard of for nobles from other countries to send their gifted children to the Prism, often paying great sums of money to do so.
With the ten mighty towers rising from it's campus, it should be known that each tower is dedicated to the varying practices of magic.
The Recanters Tower studies the arts of Abjuration. Students of this College are instructed to wear Brown Robes, representing the wall they must become to protect others under their wings.
The Invokers Tower studies the arts of Conjuration. Students of this College are instructed to wear Orange Robes, representing the seemingly unnatural aspects conjuration and the lengths they must go.
The Augurs Tower studies the arts of Divination. Students of this College are instructed to wear Green Robes, a representation of the natural means of the divine and how they can impact the world around them.
The Hexers Tower studies the arts of Enchantment. Students of this College are instructed to wear Blue Robes, that represent the flowing nature of the enchantments they can easily place, but just as easily bring ruin to the caster.
The Evokers Tower studies the arts of Evocation. Students of this College are instructed to wear Red Robes, representing the very passions they must temper if they are to master their school of magic.
The Deluders Tower studies the arts of Illusion. Students of this College are instructed to wear Yellow Robes, representing the very essence of their ability to decieve all they meet.
The Oblivion Tower studies the arts of Necromancy. Students of this College are instructed to wear White Robes, representing the very deathly air of magic they must wade into and represent.
The Mutaters Tower studies the arts of Transmutation. Students of this College are instructed to wear Violet Robes, representing the often unnatural methods they must undergo to transmute one thing to another.
The Clandestine Tower studies the varying teachings of magic not regularly covered by the other towers, such as the schools of Graviturgy and Chronoturgy. Students of this College are instructed to wear Black Robes, representing the fathomless possibility of magic they can access.
The Chromatic Tower unifies all the theories taught, and lectures students on their varying uses. First and Second year students will find themselves being taught here more than any other tower, and will dress in robes that carry the many colours of the spectrum, representing the ever possible spectrum of magic.
Students progress through the College thusly:
In their First year, they learn the foundations of magic
In their Second year, they build upon these foundations
In their Third year, they move to the specific tower that they have either shown an aptitude for, or choose if they have more than one they excel in.
They then remain within that Tower's influence for the next four years, before graduating as a full master of that tower, earning the title most appropriate for that tower. Some remain at the College, helping to teach others, or expand their influence. Others have been known to go on and become advisors at court for nobles, or the local enchanter.
Situated just beside the north eastern quarter of the city, the College is seperated from the city by its own series of intricate walls, out of a desire of safety and respectful protection. It would be unfortunate, after all, for a rogue spell to blow up half the city.
