Avblod Party

"It's when blood is forgotten that civilization crumbles. It's our past that determines where we are going, and it is the wishes of those who carved our past who must be honored."

-Rhys Hargest to Nostula Turases in Travels of the Corkend

Avblod Statement of Purpose

"While many move on and forget our roots, we must be mindful of our origins from distant lands and distant folk. It was the cradle of the
Isles that nurtured us and raised us to such great heights. It was the tribulation of the isles that forced our leaders to grow in a gauntlet of storms and quakes. Let us not forget what guided humanity through its history to great success, it was the blood of Warren III that the gods had ordained with good graces. Are we to act remiss about humanity's hardships after we so clearly abandoned our devotion to bloodlines? We declare that the blood of the Steward is what we support, and the man or woman who bares it is the one we will follow. Whether to Shellbay or the Snow Rock Isles, we will follow. We hold strong that there is only one substance that binds us to the gods, and that is blood."

The Blood of Warren:

The blood of Warren was the exclusive manner used to determine succession in the Snow Rock Isles, at least until their globalization. For generations, those who had his blood would select their own successor without question, and while this manner slowly died out after the founding of Shellbay on the Trinen mainland, there are still those who deem it the best way to determine rulership, hence the Avblods. While there are several identified individuals who are within Warren's family tree, most human territories have decided their own manners of succession, with meritocracy being increasingly popular in Shellbay, where the faction resides. Even the isles, where the ideology originate, don't sit a descendent of Warren III on the throne.
The Snow Rock Greats
The "Snow Rock Greats" are considered the core influential relatives of Warren, the Steward. Note, Warren is not the first in his bloodline, though many consider Warren I (often called "the Chummer") and II to be more harmful to society. It was not until Warren III came along that humanity could be united and grown beyond the two standard classes of "predator" and "prey." History of the Avblod Party

Formation

The Avblod Party formed during the war between the Saltkrigere Empire and the competing empire of Eldurgrund. It was the barony of Shellbay that first gave rise to the new, yet old ideology. After rapid growth out of the dark era of Ettermiddag, the Bailum Consilium had begun taking the reigns of governmental control, which Shellbay, the capital of the Saltkrigere, rolled over and allowed. It was the Avblods (simply taking the name "Stewards" at the time) who began beckoning with Shellbay to refocus on the blood of the Steward for succession. It was eternally the plight of the party to ensure that a relative of Warren would be seated as emperor. Unfortunately, only 1 of the 9 emperors aligned with their party.

Under the Empire

During the rule of the Saltkrigere Empire over Trinen, the Avblod Party was generally fed but never sated in their desires for ancient monarchy. Generally, the parted devoted much time and many resources towards researching family trees and determining who had the blood of Warren III for certain. These individuals, typically already serving in government, would often be provided with horizontal position transfers, in order to give the illusion of compliance by the baron, without actually complying to their needs.
Near the middle of the Saltkrigere Empire's reign, the party was finally sated, when Sahra Abdul IV married a woman that the party declared a descendant from Warren. This ensured that the emperor's son, Sahra Abdul IV would hold the blood of Warren. Unfortunately, Sahra Abdul IV ended his career rejecting the flimsy heredity-based party, after working in good faith for decades. All further emperors shared similar opinions, ignoring the Avblods.

Under the Augury

After the downfall of the Saltkrigere Empire at the hands of the Augury, The Avblods have enjoyed greater success, though not because the Augury reciprocates their ideals. Rather, it is due to the party downscaling the scope of their mission, returning to their roots in Shellbay. While some have begun extending their sights across the Orphi Gap to their ancestral land of the Snow Rock Isles, the majority of the party works towards improving the barony with their political decisions and research, though it would be inaccurate to call the party a "scholarly" one.
While they have enjoyed more success in Shellbay, the Augury denounces their ideology, claiming that the lifestyle and methods of such ancient folk don't represent modern desires and politics. As many know, none of the positions within the Augury itself are hereditary. While nepotism has regularly been a problem for the senators and consuls, they would not so willingly present themselves as kneeling to such a conservative ideology.
Regardless of the organization's dismissal by the Augury, the Avblod Party is a growing powerhouse in Shellbay, with the position of Saltkrigere General currently being held by one of their appointed individuals.

Control the Military, Control the Government

The Avblod Party seems to have taken a new stance on control in the last few decades, as they move away from appointed political officials and towards the promotion of military individuals. The current Saltkrigere General was recommended by them, in fact. The position is one of great impact, as most consider it the most decorated military role in all of Laminarum. The current barony in Shellbay has mentioned their concern of military overthrow, as tensions with the party have been rising recently. In one letter sent to the consuls in Saint's Maar, the baron mentions that "with the Saltkrigere in the palms of the Avblods, we worry if the barony would survive a mutiny. We request guidance and assistance, should this time come. After all, you surely don't want such a militant state on your heels?"
