The Fae had magic, immortality, and an advanced society while we were still learning to build huts out of sticks rather than living in caves. They should have conquered the world, but they didn't. We did. We have something that they don't. Ambition and reckless courage. Even if we don't live anywhere near as long as they do, we're far less afraid of risk. We conquered fire and iron, which made it inevitable that we would drive them back into their own realm.
