Vorth Daedark

Vorth Daedark

There are few explorers and adventurers who have achieved the same level of notoriety in recent years as Vorth Daedark. Born as a count of Fatoris, Mitlind, he relinquished his title and position in order to pursue his passion for understanding the world. He began by taking part in several expeditions to different regions, working his way from footman to leader throughout his career. While Vorth has not lead many expeditions, each one has resulted in world altering research. The scholars of Wyverncrest and the mages of the Wyvernian Arcanum have taken special interest in his work, offering to sponsor and bankroll his later expeditions.

First Tulvan Expedition

The first expedition that Vorth lead was to the isle of Tulva. The sunderring of the country spurring a deep curiosity within him. His documentation of the expedition was meticulous and documented his findings in great detail. This expedition lead to Vorth and his crew making landfall in Trinnt, along Tulva's Southern coast. Vorth and his crew found and documented some ancient Tulvan technology as well as ancient runes inscribed along the destroyed walls. As a linguist Vorth was able to decipher the text, or at least the parts that he could access. The expidition would need further resources in order to proceed any further.

Second Tulvan Expidition

After his first expedition, Vorth garnered the support of the Wyvernian Arcanum. They offered to sponsor the next expidition with supplies and eqquipment if Vorth agreed that they would be able to store any recovered artifacts in their own vaults for further study. This time, Vorth lead a larger expedition fleet and anchored in the centre of Tulva's crater. By using magical items to dive into the ocean below, Vorth lead an exploration of the depths of Old Tulva. While this expidition did not result in the recovery of any old Tulvan artifacts, it did allow the explorers to map the undersea ruins of Old Tulva. It also allowed Vorth to establish positive relations with a subculture of sea-dwelling humanoids who claimed to be descendants of the original Tulvans.

Akoran Expedition

The third and most famous of Vorth's accomplishments is the discovery of Akora. Ironically, this discovery was entirely accidental. Vorth's flagship left from Tulva a day later than the rest of the fleet. On the return trip, Vorth's flagship was caught in a rogue storm that damaged the ship terribly. Many sailors and explorers lost their lives in this storm, but the remains of the flagship washed upon an unknown shore. Vorth would soon come to realise that this land was entirely uninhabited by sentient life. The wildlife in this land was strange, often mutated to have strange abilities. Vorth named the country after his second in command, the explorer Akora, who sadly lost her life in the storm. While the reason for Vorth staying behind in Tulva for another day is still unknown, if not for that Akora would likely not be on any of the maps distributed throughout Laan.
