Ideals
Gender Ideals
The viewpoint in regards to gender is considered narrow in that it recognises a mere five. Officially, they are woman, man, null, fluid and flux, although many in the kingdom refer to the latter as being otherwise.
Like many other realms, a person's gender identity is assumed at birth based on the outward appearance, but identifying as another gender (or as not having one at all in the case of nulls) is seen as a natural step in a child's self-discovery and many of those transitioning from their assumed gender identity to their true one do so during their adolescence.
Because of this, it is commonplace amongst Demarn society to make no distinction between those assumed to be a certain gender at birth and those who have corrected those assumptions.
Sexuality
On the whole, Demarners have a causal approach to sex and, when it comes to sexuality, those who have little or no preference in regards to the gender of their partner is commonplace. Close behind that majority are the single gender preferences and beings who have a preference of more than one partner at a time, the latter being common enough for explicit marriage laws regarding division of property within a married group. Those who have no or limited interest in sex are seen as rarer, but are in no way seen as strange. All this is a marked difference to how sex and sexuality are treated in their spellster tower. There, the natural flow of attraction is considered better repressed and those who are attracted to more than one gender are demonised.
