Mimr

Naming Traditions

Family names

As the main keepers of history, the Mimr are often not only those who decide the names onto their own people, but that of other ethnicites as well. Their own names though are more often than not derived from artisans tools that they themselves or their parents before them used. Examples being Stonechissle, Greyfeather or Steelpick.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

Most of the Mimr's culture comes from the Greyhammers, as they were once the same group of people. They only split as a result of the war against the Devils and Vampyr as there was a need for some to keep their homes and fortresses supplied and tended too, while the warriors went to war. Those that stayed would still try to do their best to aid the efforts by more means than just supplying, which is where their love for knowledge and wisdom comes, as it could be employed it find weaknesses in their foes tactics.

Shared customary codes and values

Wisdom, honour and history are the most important values of them all, according to the Mimr. Without history there can be no lessons done, no stories told, no culture shared. Only chaos without order to balance it. The same goes for honour, without it there can be no right or wrong, no cause for compassion both to opponents and to the self. No reason for dignity and thus no reason for others to treat you with respect.

Common Etiquette rules

Mimr always walk with a straight posture and never speak their mind, unless they have something intelligent or important to speak. This etiquette was derived from Greyhammer ideas, but was taken further were Mimr will always think twice or even thrice before speaking, as they believe words have little meaning at all unless there is valuable actions taken behind them. Naturally, sometimes one must talk to communicate, so exceptions are made often to keep up good spirits in their local surroundings.

Common Dress code

Mimr prefer to dress cheap, often in casual scholary clothes coloured blue, green or in darker colours. Sometimes adorned with cloaks, hoods or even animal pelts. Considering the countless hours they spend at home or in studies, it wouldn't be the most pleasant to sit on a chair for longer durations of times while clad in full plate.

Art & Architecture

A lot of the art and architecture of Greydwarven society comes from the Mimr. Though they are scholars first and foremost, they do not shy away from stonecarving, sculpting and masonry and are highly regarded by the Greyhammers for helping them with their burial rite scultpures. Their first love is still for the arts and literature, writting philosophical texts and painting their stone halls in meaningful tales of both fiction and history.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Beauty is in everything. Every stone on the pavement has it's story, every scratch or notch on the tree could be significant as a thousand words worth of history. This is true beauty, how everything links together and work in harmony or discord. Like how the ticking cogs in a clockwork could have the same amount of appeals as a broken one, if you just look at it from different perspectives.

Courtship Ideals

Courtship for the Mimr is when two people meet each others in burning passion to reach the same goal, not similar or common goals which are often shared by the masses to odd extents. It is something they deem sacred and worth to hold onto.

Relationship Ideals

The Mimr believes that relations are built from equal passions and wisdom. Bonds strengthen not through mere words or simple actions in the moment. It is a slow process which builds from goals that align and a wisdom to guide both parts forwards through the mists and fog of strife, to weather the tide and reach the shores together. Hence their ancient saying: "No ship that can't weather a storm is ready the calmest day at sea."
