Develus

You stand on a platform of marble, perched on a pillar which rises above a scorching wasteland. The cloth mask you wear presses tight against the sweat on your face, as you gaze out over the vast wastes of sand and ancient structures. Here great machines rule, with odd creatures scrapping what old ideas and relics they can, while the bones of the dead rise back to enslave those who had not fled.   Welcome to Develus, where development comes to live out it's last light.

Geography

A desert as vast as the rolling oceans rule here. A lanscape formed by hills of sand and ancient secrets long forgotten by ancient civilisations. Treasures of past ages linger underneath the dunes, as great pyramids now part of the landscape rises in spires dedicated to forgotten gods.

Ecosystem

The enviroment is both hot and cold. The days scorching while the nights are freezing. Those who live in this barren hellscape must learn to traverse the deserts by landmarks of the ancient secrets and the oases that exist to support what little life dare walk the plains of lost hopes.

Ecosystem Cycles

Within Develus, night or day means nearly everything. On the days the heat can be withstood for hours, though anyone can easily be swept aside by a sandstorm no matter how strong they are, if they come unprepared. During the night, a snowless winter reign as cold as the grave. It is imperative to find shelter at these hours, as the sand freeze in a similar manner that ice would form, which turns the great desert into nothing else than a great fridge. A fridge only the serpentine animals can withstand for long.

Localized Phenomena

Beyond sandstorms that wreak havoc on Develus, there are also the rare sandworms which prowl underneath the dunes. Past that, the many old secrets, temples and relics that have laid dormant underneath the sands can sometimes be unveiled or even started up again. It's not all too rare that machinery of long lost technology, both ancient and modern arises from their slumber to once more wander ahead.

History

Develus is often called the hell of development or lost history. Oddly enough it seems to be the only plane connected with Carndroth, which is believed to be a because it's desert hide away the gateways from the demon hordes. History isn't told here, no it comes to die. It's here that old civilisations come to languish underneath the dust of bones, as their last breath is drawn.

Develus, the third of twelve hells.

Regions

The Crimson Dunes

The largest landmass of Develus reputed for it's copper like sands which stretch from miles on miles away of the southwestern region of the plane. These dunes also carry quite a few oases that are inhabited by local wildlife and Kobold camps. Thanks to these landmarks being protected by large redrock formations that are alike little plateues, some covered in waterfall, bushes and trees, the Crimson Dunes in contrary to what it's name suggests is the most peacefull and also forgiving region of Develus.

Gaelicogg Desert

The largest strip of landmass on Develus that spans the entire north of the deserts. This region is infamous for being caught in a raging war between two Remnant factions that fight for the occupation of different ancient ruins, structures and machines which are burried beneath the dunes underneath the remnants of ancient civilizations.

Sangcretia Infernalis

The southeastern part of the great desert, also known as the demons frontier to fully conquer this plane of the hells. This part of the desert isn't coated in sand as much as it is bone and cadavers, making it the most inhospitable place within Develus.

Gardic sea

A shining blue sea which stretches from the north of Gaelicogg and the distant isle of Gardia.

Gardia

A lush forest clad isle beyond the deserts and north from the Gardic sea. This region is far from hospitable to anyone but Carneloids, or friends of the Carneloids, as many of their clans have made the forest their home.
