Beatrice
Queen
Beatrice Leopoldine Victoria was the daughter of Alfred I and Maria Alexandrovna of Canada. After the death of her brother, Beatrice was briefly considered to be heir to the Canadian throne. However, her sister, Victoria, managed to get the nomination after a divorce.
Beatrice's mother had always attempted to arrange beneficial marriages for her daughters. It was during a political meeting between her sister and ArchdukeAugustus of Americafollowing Victoria's coronation that she met Edward. Edward at the time was an Archduke, but third in line for the throne. Queen Mother Maria discussed the arrangement with King Henry III as head of the family, and he passively gave approval. However, Victoria took some convincing, but eventually relented for diplomatic reasons. Beatrice and Edward were wed in 1903.
With the start of the Great War and Canada's entrance to the conflict, Beatrice was sidelined in American politics for assumptions of desiring America's entry as well. However, if she did, she ultimately failed as America dedicated neutrality with the Congress of Columbia. Her attentions were never confirmed, and even modern historians only have speculations, but she was ultimately ostracized in the American media nonetheless.
