Tribute to Alda, the Leučka-slayer

Little is known about the Ancients or their technology, but today's humans do know of Alda. This person was an inventor, a mage, and, evidently, a dragon-slayer. Adventurers discovered this monument in the Warnach Ruins, what is believed to have once been the Ancients' capital city. Although all that remains of the original statue is its boots, the inscription is still visible, roughly translating to, "Tribute to Alda, the dragon-slayer." Leučka is the Ačkan word for "dragon." Beneath the main inscription is a carving of what is now known to be Alda's Sigil, a valuable magical artifact that they created. Scholars have long lamented the loss of the rest of the statue to time, as no one is actually sure what the Ancients looked like. The size of their structures and their fae ancestry suggests that they were not human, but how far removed they are from modern-day humans remains unknown.   The monument and statue are made up of iron embedded with small bits of dragonglass. It was here that explorers observed the reaction between dragonglass and aleksium, two completely opposite materials. One amplifies magic, while the other nullifies it. Oddly, they almost seem to repel each other, and it is challenging to make them touch. While mages in the presence of aleksium find themselves unable to access magic, dragonglass does not lose its magical properties under the same conditions. Unfortunately, as soon as a spell is released from the dragonglass, it loses its potency.   Since the discovery of the monument, several scholars and leaders have suggested moving it from the Warnach Ruins to somewhere such as Chema, but the process would be especially challenging since it is located in the Barrenwood, a magical dead zone rife with aleksium.
