Mansa Herone's private letter to Nariman Zandos

A letter to the legendary explorer and anthropologist, Nariman Zandos asking his assistance in her desire to learn about the secret population of Grenk after first learning of their presence. In the decades since this letter was sent Nariman has encountered several grenk in uncivilized locations and many of the concerns mentioned in the actual letter (below) are no longer relevant or simply show how little of was known about the 'species' - even by the most powerful and educated individuals alive at the time.

Purpose

Weeks before writing this letter to her longtime friend, Mansa Herone Cleft learned of a secret group of people living among her citizens; the Grenk. Knowing nothing about these people, she pushed her informants and spymasters to uncover anything about them, past or present, that might help assess if they posed any kind of threat. Unfortunately for her there was no information available. So she crafted this secret letter to Nariman pleading him to come to Stretto and help her protect the people she was sworn to lead.
Due to the personal and vulnerable tone, the Mansa could never allow such desperation to be seen publicly and she hired the well-known and reliable Sewyn Courier Services to find Nariman, wherever he might be, and delivery her message. The Lettermaster was also instructed to ensure Nariman was offered the assistance and protection of any Horseback Messenger sent on this errand. With the wealth of the national treasury behind her, this message alone provided enough lats to fund Sewyn Courier Services for several years and allowed them to expand into non-traditional forms of communication which are presently beginning to have a major effect on the lives of Allegrans.

Historical Details

Background

Many see this as one of the only times a Mansa requested aid from a source outside structure of the Government of Allegri. Not only did she employ an outside courier to take the message but its contents were clearly a personal plea to Nariman, rather than an official offer of employment or request from the highest seat of power on the entire continent.
