Blindbay

This small village was established to take advantage of the surrounding natural resources. Initially the area was scouted for potential military use, but after building the garrison they saw the easy fishing conditions in the bay and made recommendations for expansion as a fresh supply of food is highly valuable.

Demographics

The population of Blindbay is equal parts military, tradesmen, and fishers. There are only a handful of actual families living permanently in the village, belonging to the Fon and other government employees.

Industry & Trade

Blindbay is widely known as the only permanent coastal fishing village sanctioned by the Mansa. Their three, mid-sized fishing vessels provide consistent fresh fish for Etude and although they aren't wealthy, the settlement and those employed by the government are well paid for their work.

History

Originally a small military outpost investigating the strategic usefulness of a sheltered inlet, the soldiers saw how the tides would trap large numbers of fish in the bay.

Geography

The village sits in a valley between two chains of hills and on the edge of a relatively circular bay. Sheltered from all sides, Blindbay has nearly no space for expansion beyond the housing and service buildings already established.

Natural Resources

The many kinds of fish that are trapped daily in the bay due to the regular tides are a major source of fresh food for the settlement and for Etude, which is what Blindbay is most known for.
Thriving forests of decidious trees surround the village on three sides, and the drumlin sheltering the settlement is hard clay that has been earmarked by Etude leaders for use in future construction once appropriate equipment and tools are available to begin excavation.
