Astrocyan Realms Geographic Location in Kantostara | World Anvil

Astrocyan Realms (Astro-sigh-ahn)

The Astrocyan Realms are pocket dimensions, adjacent to Kantostara proper, located in a place out of place in the time out of time. These are Alice-in-Wonderland-through-the-looking-glass kind of places where the laws of physics common to Kantostara don't apply and just about anything can happen. We are currently aware of eleven of these realms, but it's likely that there are many more.   Nothing is actually known about the geography, ecology, customs or natives of most of the Astrocyan Realms. They have yet to be explored because they are not easily accessible. A very special tone key crystal is needed to pass through the portals that lead to these realms, and once there it is easy to become lost, wandering for ages if not all of eternity. As a result, the only information we have is what we've been told by the Singers of Songs, who each rule one of these realms, and have described the essence of its nature.   The only Astrocyan realm that has been explored is Astrocyan Realm Zero. I, Alex the Creatrix, am the ruler of this realm. It is my home and the zero point that bridges all planes of existence where all the ley lines converge in a giant supernova of creative energy. It is a magickal place where you will find me listening for the whispers from faraway places across space and time.   The only mortal known to have travelled to the Astrocyan Realms, and returned to tell the tale, is Salelu Butwale Ti Orenga (Shining Star Keeper of Singers), also known as Lu, however, she wasn't there long enough to do any exploring. A native of Bane'ile, Lu was chosen by the Singers of Songs to be their official pilot when they travelled throughout Kantostara way back during the Age of Song. Her ship, a Mabamba class light freighter called the Chrysalis, was gifted with the special tone key crystal required to pass through the portals that lead to the Astrocyan Realms as well as a special crystaline matrix to facillitate navigation and the coherent flow of linear time while traversing those realms. Unfortunately, during Lu's last trip, to return the Singers of Songs to each of their respective realms, that crystaline matrix malfunctioned, whether by accident or design we can't be certain. Time runs very differently in the Astrocyan Realms, so when Lu returned from what, for her, was a short trip, she discovered that generations had past in Kantostara, and her home world of Bane'ile had long since been destroyed when its two suns collided. The life she had known and everyone she had loved was long gone.
