Grey Mistress

During the period of the Dark Years when Trolls and other foul beasts preyed on the edges of mankind's world, one of the most dreadful of the allies of the Trolls became known as the Grey Mistress.
Accounts from those who saw her say that she was fair to behold, tall and striking, with hair of silver-grey though there was no hint or mark of age upon her. Some thought she was from among the Elves but no Elf was ever so foul of nature or wicked of intent.
From where she raised her armies no-one knows, but when she appeared, she was at the head of a force of men, debased Norlanders who claimed no lord but conquest, no fealty but to their cruel warrior-queen. Wherever she went her armies brought devastation and cruelty and battle madness.
Men saw brothers and former friends among her ranks, now unrecognisable with ferocity and rage and the drive to conquer and destroy, and they knew that the Grey Mistress had overwhelmed their wills and turned them into her mad-dogs.
The armies of the Grey Mistress were a plague upon the lands of the north, being driven away from the heartland of Kaevil by the Knights of Kaevil.
In the year 601 an army led by Count Karvir of House Genlith assisted by Halmar and a company of the Knights of Kaevil intercepted the army of the Grey Mistress on the borders of Genlith. It is said that a warrior of the Elves fought alongside the Norlander forces at this battle. Her army was decimated, and those survivors taken captive were mad and raving more like animals than men. The Grey Mistress herself was not found and the the journal of Halmar records that:

That battle-brother of the Elves who had laboured beside us searched among the slain for the remains of she who had been mistress of these rabid dogs. He found her not and lamented that "Idd je ha dw idd Anlwn ddad , sa avnidmu ho disihonen nalema" (the limb is severed by the surgeon, yet illness lingers in the bone).

Her first appearance was recorded in 535 at the head of a small band of raiders.
She was last seen in 601 with the destruction of her army on the borders of Genlith
