— Excerpt from Fire & Gold's Travel Guide to Isekai
Raine Alexander, a Half-Elf that grew up traveling the world with her merchant father, became one of the most renowned tour or travel guides in Isekai since the days before the Eldritch War. Employed by Fire & Gold, Inc., she serves as a for-hire tour guide that will gladly take patrons to whatever areas of the world they wish, within reason. Her knowledge of cultures, politics, languages, and all else about the world make her a treasure trove of knowledge to those that ask.

Personal history

Dagger Guild Crest
Raine was born the second child of an Emerald Elf mother and a Human father. While her earliest years were spent living with her mother in the Elven Forest, it was soon realized that she took more after her father, leaving her without the magical ability and Elvish traits that were so coveted. Upon her seventh birthday, her life changed as she traveled to live with her father in the Human Empire where he served as a merchant for the Dagger Guild.   Merchants for the Dagger Guild were expected to travel, meaning that Raine would have to accompany her father as he fulfilled his duties. Another merchant in their caravan kept up her education, teaching her about the various cultures that they traveled through as well as the areas of the world that most would never see. Stopping in larger cities meant picking up books to read, expanding her knowledge even further. Her dual ancestry allowed her to learn languages quickly, as she was already fluent in both Elvish and Common. From the time she was eight until her sixteenth birthday, she and her father traveled extensively.

Formal Schooling

As her father became older, traveling was more difficult. Eventually, he became a city merchant for the guild, taking over one of the many shops they had in the capital of the Human Empire. Being in Stronghold granted Raine many opportunities, including attending the non-magical academy within the city. Here, she continued to study cultures and languages, quickly learning Sylvan and Dwarvish. In her off-times, she took to helping teach the younger classes, reading and teaching penmanship to the youngest children.   Due to her late start at the academy, Raine attended until she was twenty, learning a few more languages along the way, although not fluently. Her time at the academy had been some of her favorites, causing her to continue teaching there even after she had graduated. Students that struggled with reading and writing were often placed in her class as her individualized teaching style allowed them to blossom when they otherwise struggled. For the next four years, she would continue to serve as a teacher at the academy until a new opportunity presented itself.

Fire & Gold

As Raine was giving a tour of the city to her older sister that had come to visit, she was approached by a gentleman who spoke briefly and presented her with a golden calling card marked with the letters "OZ". This golden card was the beginning of a new opportunity that would once again allow her to travel the world, this time teaching and sharing her knowledge instead of studying.   She was contracted by Fire & Gold, Inc. as one of their seasonal tour guides, giving short tours of Stronghold and Alfensil to patrons as those were considered her areas of expertise. It was made quite obvious within her first few months that she was extremely knowledgeable and the patrons loved her, to the point that her tours were booked out months in advance.   Raine became known as the company's greatest tour guide, having her calendar filled months in advance with tours all across Isekai. Between tours, she continued to teach herself about cultures and languages, increasing her knowledge and skills. Her name has become synonymous with great help and amazing tours, so much so that she has been asked to teach others how to give similar tours.

Raine's Tour Favorites

"One of my favorite places to visit as a child. Not only is the city amazing and beautiful, but the Elves also have some of the best food and bread available fresh in their markets."
Alfensil
Settlement | Mar 18, 2024

Alfensil is the largest city in the Elven Kingdom, serving as the capital and home to the Kingdom's magic academy, the Unending Scroll. Here, the Elves have embraced both sides of their heritage, that of magic and of nature.

"Fabulous historic location but definitely not for the faint of heart. Tours stay within a safe distance but talking about the Dragons always feels like a fantastical story."
Ainspur
Building / Landmark | Jan 1, 2024

This large mountain was once the home of a Copper Dragon lineage that passed down the name of Ainspur, they were a long-lived family that boasted great tactical knowledge in the way of building defenses and fortresses to repel a great deal of threats.

"I would have loved to have seen this place before it became little more than ruins. Many say that the Djinn were just myths, but I don't buy into that theory."
