Descendants of Iron Dragons

Two large men stand guard at the gate to a castle, their dark scales shimmering between silver and near black in the sunlight. While here in the Human Empire it would be expected that these men standing guard would be Human, but that is not who the lord of this area picked to protect his most precious possessions. They do not wear the armor of the Night Guard as their scales are much stronger, but the silver Nightbreeze is emblazoned on their weapons, just as it was meant to be. These men may be outsiders here, but their bodies are built for the task of protecting, and protect they will.
Iron Dragonkin are the descendants of one of the Elder Races and an Iron Dragon. They have incredible strength and powerful bodies that allow them to stand up to the nastiest of foes. Their abilities allow them to protect, from the smallest to the largest creature, they will find safety when standing behind an Iron Dragonkin. Even with their strong bodies, their demeanors are soft and oftentimes sweet, a juxtaposition to such strong bodies that can take nearly any blow. Their words soften their hardened exterior, causing all to love them.
Above all else, these people believe in service. The Council of Metallic Dragons has proven that they can make a difference, no matter how small, no matter where. Metallic Dragonkin follow in the footsteps of their ancestors, each in different ways. Iron Dragonkin protect and serve, fulfilling professions that require strength and a willingness to protect no matter the cost. In many ways, few things are more powerful than the willpower of a Dragon when protecting its own.

Anatomy

Iron Dragonkin share some specific traits with their Draconic ancestors that prove their ties to the Iron Dragons. Their facial features are softer than other Dragonkin, with a jawline that comes to a point, much like a beard. Two sets of horns, a ribbed crest on their head, a ridged tail, and large muscular bodies are also common in Iron Dragonkin.
All Dragonkin inherit sharp claws, extremely strong and protective scales, as well as a breath weapon that they can use. Some of these traits are affected by the color of the Dragonkin as the many varieties of Dragons also vary greatly in their abilities. Iron Dragonkin often have a resistance to hot or molten materials while their breath weapon sprays molten metal at their enemies. These people have one of the strongest bodies of all Dragonkin and can deal with extremely powerful foes.

While their coloration is in their name, Iron Dragonkin can still come in a variety of shades, matching the shades found in the scales of Iron Dragons. Their scales can range from a lighter iron color to a darker iron, but their range of color is not as large as the Chromatic Dragonkin. The color of their eyes has a much smaller range, often only being yellow, brown, red, green, grey, or purple.

Social Structure

Metallic Dragonkin are considered the more social of the two groups of Dragonkin, although this is greatly influenced by the stigmas that surround certain colors of scales. Iron Dragonkin are one of the strongest colors of Dragonkin and often this strength dictates where they choose to make their homes and the lives they live. These people tend to live amongst other races that may benefit from their strength and presence, living with races that people consider weak, such as Halflings, Mauskin, and other Animal Kingdom races.
Oftentimes, these people are the tallest in the societies, towering over other denizens, but they do not use their size against anyone. Iron Dragonkin tend to be soft-spoken, reminding people of the Clay Giants with the ways they interact with other races and use their size to help whenever possible. In the Fearsome Maw, these people are constantly busy, helping the other colors as well as anyone else that may need it.

Descended from the strong Iron Dragon, they have one of the strongest bodies and are well suited to stand toe to toe with powerful foes or guard items of great importance.
